Khulna: Executive magistrates in all six parliamentary constituencies of Khulna have commenced their election-related duties under the direction of the Election Commission (EC) to ensure strict adherence to the election code of conduct ahead of the national polls.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, on Friday, Khulna Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate A S M Zamshed Khondokar issued an office order assigning executive magistrates to conduct mobile courts in their respective jurisdictions. This measure aims to facilitate a free, fair, neutral, and credible election process.
Nazmus Sakib, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate, mentioned to BSS that in Khulna-2 and Khulna-3 constituencies, which are part of the Khulna City Corporation (KCC), four executive magistrates have been deployed, with two assigned to each constituency. Furthermore, nine Assistant Commissioners of lands in all nine upazilas of the district, covering Khulna-1, 4, 5, and 6 constituencies, have also been tasked with election duties as executive magistrates.
Sakib also stated that the number of executive magistrates is expected to increase to 24 or more within the week. Mobile courts will operate in every constituency to ensure that the election code of conduct announced by the EC is strictly adhered to by all parties, including candidates.
The executive magistrates have already commenced their duties and will continue their activities until February 14, two days after the polls conclude.
