Ex-Ministers Menon and Qamrul Indicted in July Crimes Against Humanity Case

Dhaka: International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today framed charges against former ministers Rashed Khan Menon and Advocate Qamrul Islam in a case over alleged crimes against humanity linked to the July Mass Uprising. The tribunal, led by Justice Golam Mortuza Majumder, issued the order and rejected the discharge petitions filed by the accused.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tribunal has also scheduled June 9 for the prosecution’s opening statement and the commencement of witness depositions. Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam is representing the prosecution, while senior advocate Mansurul Haque Chowdhury is defending the accused.



The formal charges against the former ministers were submitted on February 3, 2026, and were subsequently taken into cognizance by the tribunal. The case is part of ongoing efforts to address alleged crimes related to the July Mass Uprising.
