Dhaka: Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested former minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui from his Gulshan residence in the capital this evening.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, DMP additional commissioner Md. Shafiqul Islam stated that Latif Siddiqui was arrested at 6pm today following a warrant issued in a case at the International Crimes Tribunal. The case is related to the events at the Shapla Chattar in Motijheel, during a mass rally organized by Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh on May 5, 2013, which resulted in multiple killings.

The arrest marks a significant development in the investigation of the 2013 incident. The International Crimes Tribunal has been handling cases related to crimes against humanity, and this arrest adds another chapter to its ongoing proceedings. The involvement of a former minister underscores the gravity of the allegations being pursued by the tribunal.
