Ex-Lawmaker Haji Salim Arrested in Attempted Murder Case.

Dhaka: A court in Dhaka has shown former Dhaka-7 lawmaker Haji Mohammad Salim arrested in a case concerning an attempted murder of Fazlur Karim. The incident reportedly took place in front of Dhaka Alia Madrasa, located in the capital.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza after police presented the former lawmaker in court, requesting that he be officially noted as arrested in the case. Haji Salim was initially apprehended in the Bongshal area of the capital in the early hours of September 2. On the same day, he was placed on a five-day remand related to the murder case.

The case documents reveal that Md Fazlur Karim, aged 50, participated in an anti-discrimination student movement rally on August 5. As the rally approached Dhaka Alia Madrasa, it was reportedly attacked by police and members of the Awami League, resulting in injuries to several participants, including Karim. spital for treatment.

Fazlur Karim lodged the case at Chawkbazar Police Station in Dhaka on October 26. The case was filed against 104 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
