DHAKA: The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) is set to question Abul Hasan, the former officer-in-charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station, on December 15. The interrogation is part of an inquiry into the brutal killing of college student Imam Hasan Taim during a student-led uprising in July and August. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tribunal approved the prosecution's request to question Hasan. The three-member tribunal, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, has scheduled January 15 for the submission of the probe report in the case. On December 4, the ICT officially showed Hasan as arrested in connection with the killing of Taim, marking him as the first individual arrested in two cases filed with the tribunal. Imam Hasan Taim, a second-year student at Adamji Nagar Government College in Narayanganj, was shot at close range on July 20 near the Kajla foot over bridge. Prosecutors allege that after being shot, Taim was taken to Jatrabari Police Station by offic ers, where he was tortured and killed, his face disfigured. Previously, on November 20, the ICT had shown Hasan, along with seven other former security officials, as arrested in a broader case related to murder, genocide, and crimes against humanity during the July-August mass uprising. The other arrestees include former NTMC director general Maj Gen Ziaul Ahsan, former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, and several other former police officials. The tribunal has set December 19 for the submission of the probe report in this wider case.
