Ex-DGFI Director Afzal Naser Put on Fourth Time Remand in Hasan Murder Case

Dhaka: A Dhaka court today placed former DGFI director Afzal Naser on a fresh three-day remand in a case filed over the killing of Mahmudul Hasan in the Uttara area during the July uprising.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order as police produced Naser before the court and requested another seven-day remand in this case. Previously, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah placed him on a four-day remand on April 23, followed by a two-day remand on April 27. Additionally, Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain placed Naser on another three-day remand on April 29.



A team from the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Afzal Naser from his residence in Mirpur DOHS on March 30, 2026. The arrest was made in connection with the murder case involving Mahmudul Hasan, who sustained bullet injuries during a student procession in the Azampur area of Uttara on August 5, 2024. Hasan was taken to Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.



The murder case was officially filed with the Uttara East Police Station on September 26, 2024.
