A court here today sent former chief whip ASM Feroz to jail in a case lodged over the killing of a youth in the capital’s Bhatara area during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub passed the order as police produced the former Patuakhali-2 lawmaker before the court after end of his remand in the case lodged over the murder of Sohagh Miah and pleaded to keep him behind the bars.
Police arrested ASM Feroz from the capital’s Banani area on August 23 and a court placed him on seven-day remand the next day. He was placed on three-day fresh remand on August 31.
Sohagh Miah, 16, was shot by police on July 19 in front Farazi Hospital under Bhatara Police Station. He died on the spot. Sohagh’s father Shafayet Hossain on August 20 filed the case against 91 including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
