Dhaka: Former Chief Justice Mohammad Fazlul Karim died of old-age complications at a city hospital in the early hours of today. He was 81. Fazlul Karim breathed his last at around 4:43 am at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital while undergoing treatment there, Supreme Court sources said.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, his namaz-e-janaza was held at the Supreme Court Inner Garden after Zuhr prayers. As a mark of respect, the judicial activities of the Supreme Court will remain suspended on Sunday.
Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed expressed profound shock at the death of Justice Mohammad Fazlul Karim in a message of condolence. He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family.
