Dhaka:River police have recovered the body of a former Bangladesh Air Force officer from the Turag River in the city on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased was identified as Tahsif Souri, approximately 28 years old, a retired flight lieutenant. Inspector Firoz Uddin, in charge of the Tongi outpost under the Dhaka region of River Police, confirmed the recovery of the body. The river police acted on information received through the national emergency service number 999 and found the body near Rajabari Ghat under Uttarkhan Police Station at around 430 pm on Wednesday.
The police reported that the deceased was wearing a white pajama and a black shirt, had a wristwatch on his hand, and an iPhone in his pocket. The identity of Tahsif Souri was confirmed using his iPhone. The body has been sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College for an autopsy. It was also reported that Tahsif had been missing since Tuesday.
