Establishment of Supreme Court Secretariat Making Significant Progress: Chief Justice

Dhaka: Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed today said the establishment of the Supreme Court secretariat is progressing actively. The chief justice shared this update while addressing newsmen after inspecting the newly renovated facilities at both the Supreme Court’s main building and Annex Building earlier this morning.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Justice visited the Supreme Court Reporters’ Forum room subsequent to his inspection, where he acknowledged the contributions of newsmen in shaping his judicial roadmap. As part of a pilot project, separate toilets have been constructed for men, women, and individuals with special needs at two dedicated sites within the Supreme Court.



The Chief Justice announced plans to extend this initiative to other courts nationwide. He described the project as a critical step in meeting social responsibility, underscoring its humanitarian and inclusive nature, as stated in an apex court notification. The Chief Justice also expressed gratitude to BRAC for its involvement in executing the project.



Present at the occasion were BRAC Executive Director Asif Saleh, Supreme Court Registrar General Dr. Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan, Appellate Division Registrar Md Hasanuzzaman, High Court Division Registrar Mohammad Habibur Rahman Siddiquee, and Special Officer Moazzem Hossain, among others.
