DHAKA: The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) has entered into a lease agreement with EPL Accessories Limited to set up an accessories manufacturing unit in the BEPZA Economic Zone (EZ). This initiative is set to bring a significant investment of $8 million and is expected to generate employment for 610 Bangladeshis.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the agreement was formalized with a signing ceremony attended by key figures including Md Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Kazi Monowar Hossain, Managing Director of EPL Accessories Limited. Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, the Executive Chairman of BEPZA, was also present to oversee the proceedings.
The new facility will focus on producing a variety of accessories such as foam, carton, poly, and gum tape. Moreover, it will be equipped to handle foam and fabric lamination, as well as screen printing and embroidery tasks. This diversification in production capabilities is expected to contribute positively to the local economy.
BEPZA’s Executive Chairman expressed gratitude towards EPL Accessories Limited for choosing to invest in the BEPZA EZ. He assured the company of comprehensive support to ensure efficient business operations within the zone. The event was also attended by senior BEPZA officials, including Member (Engineering) Md. Imtiaz Hossain, Member (Finance) A N M Foyzul Haque, and other executive directors, highlighting the significance of this development for the region.
