Dhaka: A total of 17,352 individuals have registered on the website following the call for registration for ‘Citizen Services Bangladesh’, an initiative aimed at consolidating all citizen services onto a single platform. This was announced by Foyez Ahmed Taiyeb, the Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, during the inauguration of a four-day training program held for 60 selected entrepreneurs from Dhaka district at the Post Office in Agargaon. The program seeks to enhance the skills of entrepreneurs in implementing ‘Citizen Service Bangladesh’.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Taiyeb emphasized that robust security measures have been integrated to safeguard the information of citizens and agents on the website. Additionally, necessary APIs for integration with other systems have been developed and provided. Efforts are also underway to incorporate essential features into the profile updates of entrepreneurs.
Regarding the development of the mobile application for citizen services, Taiyeb stated, “The API for connection with the mobile app has been completed. The design of the mobile app has been discussed with the developer team, and the goals and objectives of the citizen services app have been explained. Accordingly, they have started the development activities of the mobile app.”
Taiyeb also highlighted the progress of API integration, noting that several meetings and workshops have been conducted with relevant departments such as the Office of the Registrar General, Bangladesh Election Commission, Ministry of Land, Department of Immigration and Passports, and Bangladesh Police – Online GD. These efforts are directed towards ensuring seamless integration with citizen services and other systems via API.
Furthermore, Taiyeb mentioned that integration activities are ongoing to provide MyGov services through the citizen service platform. Most of the service integration plans are expected to be completed by next week. Correspondence has been sent to the relevant departments to facilitate connection with citizen services through API integration.
The civic service entrepreneur training is scheduled to span four working days, with 22 out of the 60 participants being women. The program includes 12 hands-on training sessions delivered by 14 external trainers, and a one-day hands-on/field visit is planned as part of the training. Upon completion of the four-day training, participants will undergo a written test to assess their acquired knowledge, with certificates awarded to those who successfully complete the course.
It is noteworthy that the government has launched a unified digital platform named ‘Nagorik Sheba Bangladesh,’ abbreviated as ‘Nagorik Sheba’ (Citizen Service), designed to deliver a comprehensive range of government services through a single online gateway, complemented by physical service points run by local entrepreneurs throughout the country.
