Dhaka: The Ministry of Education announced on Sunday that all English-medium schools in the country will remain closed from Monday until the conclusion of the government-declared Ramadan and Eid holidays. This decision was made during a policy formulation meeting for English-medium schools and coaching centers held in the conference room of the Secondary and Higher Education Division.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the meeting was presided over by Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon and included discussions with representatives from English-medium schools that operate under foreign curricula. The deliberations took into account the challenges faced by city dwellers during the holy month of Ramadan, especially in Dhaka and other major urban centers, as well as the current global situation.
While the institutions will be closed, they will be permitted to conduct only mandatory examinations as per their pre-scheduled timetables during this period. Additionally, the meeting resolved that activities at all coaching centers, whether catering to Bangla-medium or English-medium students, will be suspended for the same duration.
Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division Abdul Khaleque, along with other relevant officials, attended the meeting.
