Emergency Measles-Rubella Vaccination Drive Launched in Barguna

Barguna: An emergency measles-rubella vaccination campaign has been launched in Barguna after the district was declared a hotspot.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the program was inaugurated today at the Civil Surgeon’s Office auditorium. Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad and MP from Barguna-2 constituency, Nurul Islam Moni, virtually inaugurated the campaign at around 11:30 am.



Due to a rise in measles cases across the country, 30 locations in 20 districts have been identified as ‘hotspots’. Among them, Barguna Sadar upazila and municipality have been declared measles hotspots by the government.



Civil Surgeon Abul Fattah presided over the event, organized by the district health department. Among others, Deputy Director of Local Government Selim Shahnewaz, Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ibrahim, President of the Press Club Md. Hafizur Rahman, and General Secretary Abu Zafar Md Saleh, along with doctors and journalists, were present.
