Dhaka: The Russian Embassy in Bangladesh hosted a series of commemorative events on Saturday to mark the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The day’s activities included a celebratory concert prepared by students and teachers from the Embassy School, featuring dances, songs, and poems about the Great Patriotic War.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Khozin expressed gratitude to the students and teachers for their dedication to preserving and honoring Russian history. The event highlighted the students’ and teachers’ months of preparation for the performance. The celebrations also featured patriotic events such as the Candle of Memory and the Garden of Memory, both of which have become traditions at the embassy over the years.

To further honor the memory of veterans, the embassy staff and their families organized the “Immortal Regiment” exhibition, allowing participants to share personal family stories. The Victory Day celebrations extended beyond the embassy grounds, with a motorcycle and car rally taking place in the capital’s Gulshan district. Participants included embassy staff, members of the Russian House, school teachers and students, as well as compatriots and graduates of Soviet and Russian universities.

Remarks were delivered by Ambassador Khozin, Director of the Russian House Alexandra Khlevnoy, Chairperson of the Compatriots Association ‘Rodina’ Elena Bass, Head of the Soviet Alumni Association Mizanur Rahman, and Chairman of the Liberation War Academy Trust Abul Azad. The motorcycle rally has become a cherished annual tradition in Dhaka, uniting residents who are passionate about Russian history and wish to honor the memory of those who contributed to the defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945.
