Rangpur: The newly-appointed Superintendent of Police in Rangpur, Md Marufat Hussaine, has confidently stated that the upcoming election in Bangladesh will be fair, impartial, and transparent, surpassing all previous records. "We will work for the nation by forgetting all differences. We know how the past elections went, let it not be repeated. This time, we are sure that there will be a beautiful and fearless election without any kind of fear," he remarked.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, SP Marufat Hussaine shared these remarks during a view-exchange meeting with local journalists at his office. He emphasized the importance of learning from past elections and expressed a commitment to ensuring a secure and unbiased voting process. Hussaine also highlighted the significant role journalists play in society, acknowledging their contributions in maintaining law and order by providing vital information.
He pointed out the sacrifices of those who have faced discrimination and those martyred during the July Uprising, asserting that such sacrifices should not be forgotten. The SP praised journalists, particularly for their courageous documentation of events like the shooting of martyr Abu Sayeed during the July Movement, which helped galvanize public action.
The government is progressively preparing for the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections, tentatively scheduled for February, he noted. The appointment of SPs nationwide is part of the broader efforts to ensure a smooth electoral process. Marufat Hussaine expressed optimism that collective efforts would result in a fair election, emphasizing the need for both police and journalists to uphold their responsibilities.
The meeting was attended by Additional SP (Crime and Ops) Susanta Chandra Roy, Additional SP (Administration and Finance) Md Joynal Abedin, and local journalists from various media platforms.
