Dhaka: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin today confirmed that the schedule for the 13th National Parliament elections and referendum will be announced this week. “The polls schedule will be announced this week,” he informed reporters following a meeting with Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the CEC explained that his meeting with the Chief Justice was a courtesy call as the Chief Justice is set to retire this month. “We have worked together, and that is why I have come to have a farewell meeting with him,” Nasir Uddin stated.
Nasir Uddin also mentioned plans to deploy the Electoral Inquiry Committee, emphasizing the need for expedience once the election schedule is released. He noted that the Chief Justice is taking necessary steps regarding the deployment and assured that there will be no difficulty in the process.
The CEC’s visit to the Supreme Court occurred at approximately 1:35 pm, where he was welcomed by Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiqui.
