Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emphasized that elections are the only solution to the current political and economic crises facing the nation. “There is no alternative to national elections for political and economic freedom. Those who do not want elections without reforms are pursuing party decisions,” he stated to reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport upon his return from Thailand.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mirza Fakhrul traveled to Thailand for medical treatment. He stressed that the people of Bangladesh are unaccustomed to elections conducted through proportional representation methods, expressing the BNP’s preference for elections held via direct voting.
Addressing the upcoming DUCSU elections, he expressed hope that the polls would be conducted fairly and peacefully, ensuring the participation of all political entities.
