Accra:The Election Commission will convene a meeting tomorrow to finalize the phases and schedule for the upcoming Union Parishad elections.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting will commence at 1030 am under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin. The agenda includes discussions on local government elections and the delegation of administrative and financial powers to officials of the National Identity Registration Wing, among other relevant topics.
Additionally, the commission will address issues related to machine maintenance, card printing, outstanding bills, and new contracts at the Personalisation Centre. The draft National Election Award Policy 2025 will also be reviewed.
Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah previously stated that the commission would determine the phases and dates of the UP elections during the meeting. He mentioned that district election officers would be responsible for announcing the election schedules locally, while the commission would decide on the phases. He expressed optimism that all election phases would be completed within the previously announced timeframe.
