Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) has addressed concerns over misleading interpretations being circulated in media outlets and on social media regarding a portion of remarks made by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the EC issued a press release highlighting the spread of confusing explanations related to a part of the CEC’s speech at the “Gen Vote Festival” held earlier in the day. The EC emphasized that these interpretations do not accurately reflect the CEC’s statements.

The press release underscored the CEC’s strong response to the terrorist attack on Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi. Following this incident, the EC called an emergency meeting with senior law enforcement officials, where the CEC instructed them to arrest the perpetrators swiftly and ensure justice.

Furthermore, the EC expressed its deep concern over the shooting and directed law enforcement to implement effective measures to prevent such activities in the future. The CEC stressed that incidents like the attack on Hadi would not impede the upcoming national election, and the EC is dedicated to conducting a fair and peaceful election while maintaining law and order.

The EC also extended wishes for Sharif Osman Hadi’s speedy recovery and expressed sympathy for his family. The Commission believes this statement will clear any misunderstandings about the CEC’s remarks.
