Khulna: Motaleb Mia, an 80-year-old former worker of Khulna Crescent Jute Mill, expressed immense joy as he cast his vote, accompanied by his ailing wife, Fatema Parveen, 68, and their daughter, Nargis Sultana, 45. The family participated in the democratic process as voters of the Khulna-3 constituency, which includes the areas of Khalishpur, Daulatpur, and Arongghata, by casting their votes at the Maulana Bhasani Bidyapeeth Girls’ School and College polling centre.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Motaleb Mia reflected on the significance of the moment, acknowledging that age and illness have impacted him greatly, and this voting opportunity might be his last. “I am old now and suffering from various diseases. This may be my last vote in life. I may not live another five years. I feel very happy to have cast my vote,” he shared.

His wife, Fatema Parveen, who struggles with poor eyesight, explained the necessity of her daughter’s presence at the polling centre. “I cannot see well, so I came with my daughter. We all have cast our votes,” she stated.
