Mymensingh: An elderly couple was killed in a road accident at Churkhai intersection in Sadar upazila here this afternoon. The deceased were Abdul Hekim, 80, and his wife Ajmara Khatun, 70, residents of Churkhai area of the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident took place on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway around 2 pm when a speedy covered van hit the couple as they were crossing the road together. Shafiqul Islam Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Model Police Station, stated that they died on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue.
