Rangpur:Police have successfully recovered eight stolen motorcycles and arrested six individuals believed to be part of an organized motorcycle theft ring operating in various areas of Rangpur city, Pirganj, Mithapukur upazilas, and Dinajpur district.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individuals have been identified as Shahin Mia, Shimul Mondal, Milon Mia, Hasan Mia, Rashed Prodhan, and Russel Mia. The operation was confirmed by Md Rafiqul Islam, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tajhat Police Station under Rangpur Metropolitan Police.

The case began when a motorcycle was stolen from the Alhaj Nagar Darshana area of Rangpur city on October 5 at around 330 pm. The owner, Golam Rabbani, filed a complaint with Tajhat Police Station, which prompted the police to launch operations in different areas. As a result, five individuals were arrested, and five motorcycles, including the one belonging to Rabbani, were recovered.

Following a court-approved three-day police remand, further information led to the arrest of Russel Mia during a raid in the Shanerhat Bazar area of Pirganj upazila on the night of October 20. During Mia's interrogation, three additional unregistered motorcycles were recovered.

The OC stated that the process of producing Russel Mia before the court is underway, and the investigation into the theft ring continues.
