Chattogram: A fire broke out early Monday, destroying eight shops in the Fakirhat Bazar area of Fatikchari Upazila in the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the fire began around 1:30 a.m. due to an electrical short circuit in one of the shops and rapidly spread to adjacent establishments. Shop owner Azizul Hoque and sources from the Fatikchari Upazila Fire Service and Civil Defense reported on the cause and initial spread of the fire.
Two firefighting units from the Fatikchari Upazila Fire Service and Civil Defense quickly responded to the scene. With help from local residents, they successfully brought the flames under control by 3 a.m.
