Dhaka: Eight more children have died due to measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours, raising concerns across the nation. The total number of reported cases has surged to 1,086, as revealed by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, there were 1,033 suspected measles cases reported in the last 24 hours, adding to a cumulative total of 69,612 suspected cases since March 15. During the same period, 53 new cases were confirmed as measles, bringing the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 to 8,996.
Since March 15, hospitals have admitted 55,705 patients with suspected measles, out of which 52,050 have recovered and been discharged. The number of deaths among suspected measles cases has reached 493, with 90 of these deaths confirmed as resulting from measles.
The Dhaka division reported the highest number of suspected cases, with 32,908 individuals identified, of which 6,261 cases were confirmed as measles. The ongoing situation has prompted health authorities to intensify their response to contain the outbreak.
