Eid-ul-Azha celebrated with due religious fervor in Gaibandha

The holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest

religious festivals of the Muslim Ummah, was celebrated in all the seven

upazilas of the district on Thursday with due religious fervor, solemnity and

spirit of sacrifice.

In the morning, streams of people including the young, old and children

rushed to the nearest Eidgahs, mosques and selected open places for offering

their Eid-prayers.

The main Eid congregation was held at Central Eidgah Maidan, near to Shah

Abdul Hamid Stadium of the town, by the arrangement of the district

administration.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Oliur Rahman, Nezarat Deputy Collector Md. Jwel

Miah, district level officials, leaders of political parties, local elite,

professionals and journalists joined the congregation with the festive mood.

Earlier, the deputy commissioner exchanged Eid greetings with Musallis

(devotees) at the gate of the Eidgah Maidan on behalf of the district

administration.

Speaking on the occasion, Oliur Rahman said the officials of district

administration were working relentlessly to push forward the district towards

desired development and sought their cordial cooperation to attain the

cherished goal.

The DC also assured the Musallis of providing all sorts of administrative

support and assistance for the progress of the Eidgah Maidan.

The other Eid congregations were also held at Gaibandha Police Lines, Gausul

Azam Eidgah, Al-Falah Jame Mosque, V-AID Road Jame Mosque, PWD Jame Mosque,

Gorosthan Jame Mosque, Fakirpara Jame Mosque, Khanka Sharif Jame Mosque, DC-

Court Jame Mosque, Circuit House Madrasa Jame Mosque, Dhanghara Eidgah

ground, David Companypara Jame Mosque and Station Jame Mosque of the town.

Besides, another big Eid Jamaat was also held at police lines Jame Mosque

where Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Kamal Hossain exchanged Eid greetings

with the Musallis (devotees).

Thousands of musallis offered special munajat seeking divine blessing and

eternal peace of the departed souls of their dear ones as well as continued

peace, progress and prosperity of the country and the Muslim Ummah.

After the Eid Jaamat, the devotees embraced with each other saying “Eid-

Mubarak”. Later, they sacrificed thousands of animals in the name of the

Almighty Allah in commemoration of the supreme sacrifice made by the Hazrat

Ibrahim (AS) at their homes and the selected places of the district town.

On the holy occasion, special and improve diets were also being served among

the inmates of jail and different hospitals, Shishu Paribars and orphanage

centres of the district.

The police administration took adequate measures and the members of RAB,

police, and other law enforcing agencies including scouts were deployed

everywhere for peaceful celebration of the Eid-ul-Azha in the district, said

SP Kamal Hossain.
