Paturia: Homebound Eid passengers from 21 southwestern districts are enjoying a hassle-free journey as the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) implements measures for smooth travel.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, no traffic congestion was observed at the Paturia and Aricha ghats due to the availability of adequate ferries on both sides of the Padma river.
BIWTC sources indicate that currently, 15 small, medium, and large Ro-Ro ferries are operating on the Paturia-Daulatdia route, while five ferries are in service on the Aricha-Kazirhat route. Additionally, launches are continuously running on both routes, and speedboats are ferrying holidaymakers.
Deputy General Manager of BIWTC Paturia, Abdus Salam, stated that no passengers had to wait at the ghats to cross the river. He emphasized that all passengers in vehicles must disembark before boarding the ferries, a rule that is being strictly enforced. The district administration and police are actively monitoring the situation at the ghats to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
