Rajshahi: The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, commemorating the birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), was observed in Rajshahi and across the country with religious reverence and solemnity. The day saw various programs and activities aimed at honoring the prophet’s legacy.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Anjumane Ashrafia Charitable Trust and Sheroil Colony Boro Mosque organized a religious rally in the morning. The rally began from the mosque premises, parading through the main thoroughfares of the city before concluding at Hazrat Shah Makhdum Dargah. Special prayers were offered at the Dargah for the peace of the country and the Muslim Ummah.
In addition to the religious rally, the traditional colorful rally ‘Jasne Julush’ was organized by Gausul Azam Gausia, Talime Quran Tamauafi, and EskeNabi. The rally commenced from the city’s Saheb Bazar area around 8:30 am, traversing key city roads and culminating at Shah Makhdum Dargah Mosque. Here, participants prayed for the divine blessings of Almighty Allah for the peace, progress, and prosperity of the country and the welfare of the Muslim Ummah.
The day’s observance also included special prayers, Dhikir, Dua, Milad Mahfil, discussions, and charity events, such as the distribution of food to orphans and the destitute. The divisional office of the Islamic Foundation and the Imam Training Academy jointly organized a discussion to highlight the day’s significance. Additionally, the Shishu Academy conducted a Hamd-Na’at competition for children, while various educational institutions hosted discussion meetings and Dua Mahfils.
Law enforcement agencies implemented tight security measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the day’s programs. In celebration of the holy occasion, several bamboo-made temporary gates, wrapped in long rags and adorned with colorful festoons and banners, were erected at key road corners and city islands.
