Cumilla: Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has declared that the Ministry of Education is akin to a “place of worship” where no form of corruption or dishonesty can be tolerated. His remarks were made during a views-exchange meeting at the Cumilla Shilpakala Academy, which was organized to address the upcoming Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations for 2026.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Milon emphasized the importance of sincere efforts in educating students, likening it to “Sadaqah Jariyah” (ongoing charity). He urged all stakeholders to treat education as a sacred responsibility, maintaining integrity throughout the system. The minister underscored the government’s strict stance against exam malpractice, recalling that anti-cheating initiatives were first launched in Cumilla in 2001.
Dr. Milon stressed the importance of utilizing past experiences to ensure a fair and cheating-free examination environment this year. He expressed confidence in teachers, assuring them of continued support, while warning that any irregularities in the education sector would not be tolerated. He also highlighted that financial assistance had been provided in the past to teachers injured while performing their duties.
“Education is not like other sectors; it is the main driver of nation-building. There is no alternative to responsibility here,” Dr. Milon stated, reiterating the government’s firm position against cheating in examinations. He mentioned that in the past, decisions were made to give institutions an opportunity to improve rather than immediately penalizing them if their pass rate dropped to zero.
The meeting was attended by center secretaries from the Cumilla Education Board, Madrasa Education Board, and Technical Education Board, among others. Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of collective efforts to ensure that the SSC and equivalent examinations are conducted smoothly, transparently, and without malpractice.
