Rajshahi: Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon today announced that the education budget is set to increase in coming years, emphasizing the critical need for proper prioritization in the allocation of these funds to enhance the quality of education.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Milon highlighted the importance of setting the right spending priorities during his speech as the chief guest at a seminar organized for the Regional Skills and Innovation Competition at the Shaheed Osman Bin Hadi Auditorium of Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute. He addressed the necessity of strategic financial planning to ensure improvements in educational standards.
In his interaction with students and teachers at the seminar, the Minister engaged in discussions about the current challenges facing the education sector. He sought to understand the causes of academic underperformance, students' academic progress, and potential solutions for ensuring quality education.
Students voiced concerns about several issues such as irregular class schedules, exam delays, and inconsistencies between curriculum and syllabus. Addressing these issues, Dr. Milon stated, "Special emphasis has been placed on technical education. The Prime Minister has already given priority to this sector."
He further stressed that technical education must not be overlooked and advocated for a transformative approach within this sector. He encouraged all stakeholders in the education system to collaborate responsibly towards nation-building goals.
Additionally, the Minister underscored the necessity of accountability within the ministry, among teachers, and all related parties to foster the development of the education system. Prominent figures at the event included Technical and Madrasah Education Division Secretary Md. Daud Mia, Directorate of Technical Education Director General Abul Khair Akkas Ali, Divisional Commissioner Dr. A N M Bazlur Rashid, and Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute Principal Abu Hanif.
