Khulna: Administrator of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Firoz Sarker emphasized the critical role of education and health in development, urging increased awareness at the grassroots level. “We must work collectively to make this government initiative a hundred percent successful,” Sarker remarked while presiding over a coordination meeting. The meeting, held at the Khulna Divisional Commissioner’s conference room, aimed at ensuring the successful implementation of the nationwide Typhoid Vaccination Campaign-2025, which is set to commence on October 12 under the government’s Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, officials highlighted that typhoid fever is a preventable infectious disease. The upcoming campaign targets children aged between 9 months and under 15 years, who will receive a single dose of the Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV). The campaign will unfold in two stages: first in educational institutions and permanent vaccination centers from October 12 to 30, and subsequently at community clinics and regular centers from November 1 to 13.
Parents are required to register their children on www.vaxepi.gov.bd using their 17-digit birth registration number to obtain the vaccine, which has been certified as halal. During the meeting, Dr. Nazmur Rahman Sajib, a Medical Officer from the World Health Organization (WHO), delivered a comprehensive briefing through a PowerPoint presentation. The event was attended by senior KCC officials, police representatives, teachers, and members of various committees.
