Dhaka: Bangladesh will emphasize strengthening economic and energy cooperation with Qatar during the visit of Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus to the Middle Eastern nation, as stated by Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam today. The Chief Adviser is departing Dhaka for a four-day official visit to attend the Earthna Summit-2025, following an invitation from Qatar's Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during a media briefing at the Foreign Service Academy, Alam confirmed that Prof Yunus will engage in a series of activities throughout his visit. Accompanied by a delegation including Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman, and Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Prof Yunus is scheduled to meet with Qatar's Amir and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed.
The visit also includes meetings with Qatar Charity and Qatar Foundation, and an interview with Al Jazeera TV. Given Bangladesh's existing LNG import agreement with Qatar, discussions are expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in the energy sector. An investment summit on April 23 is anticipated to yield a positive response for Bangladesh.
Visa-related issues and the Rohingya crisis will also be addressed. Prof Yunus will lead a conference on the Rohingya issue with global stakeholders to renew international attention on the matter. The Chief Adviser is expected to return home in the early hours of April 25.
