Dhaka: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin is set to announce the schedule for the 13th national election and a referendum at 6 pm today. Following this crucial announcement, the Election Commission (EC) will issue approximately 20 circulars aimed at ensuring a smooth and fair election process, as confirmed by Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud to BSS.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, these circulars will cover a range of issues, starting with a directive that prohibits the transfer of any government official or employee without the Commission’s approval. Additional circulars will address law and order management, the appointment of judicial magistrates, and the removal of pre-existing posters and banners.
A gazette notification regarding the election schedule will be released immediately after the announcement. This will be followed by the appointment of returning officers and assistant returning officers. Various committees will also be established, including the law and order coordination cell, vigilance observation teams, and judicial inquiry committees. Furthermore, executive magistrates will be appointed, and strict instructions will be issued to prevent the transfer of government employees without EC approval.
In addition, the EC will provide guidelines to ensure political parties and candidates adhere to the election code of conduct, alongside an immediate order for the removal of campaign materials like posters and banners.
