Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) will conduct a field-level investigation on the 22 parties which were primarily qualified for registration ahead of the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad polls. Election Commissioner Brigadier General Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah (retd) informed journalists about this development following a meeting of the commission.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 143 new parties applied for registration, but none fully met the conditions of the registration process. Subsequently, the EC provided a 15-day period for these parties to address the deficiencies. Out of these, 84 parties managed to fulfill the conditions and submitted the necessary documents to the EC.
Among these, 22 parties were deemed qualified in the EC’s flexible verification. The commission now plans to conduct a field-level verification of these parties. The remaining 121 parties have been deemed ineligible for registration. The political parties that met the required criteria include the National Citizens Party (NCP), Forward Party, Aam Janatar Dal, Bangladesh Ganotantrik Party (BGP), Bangladesh Reformist Party (BRP), and several others.
