Dhaka: Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder today announced that the Election Commission (EC) has suspended the observer accreditation of local organization Peoples Advancement Social Association (PASA). This announcement came during a press briefing held in front of the State Guest House Jamuna following a high-level meeting on election preparedness chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision by the EC to suspend PASA's accreditation follows a preliminary investigation into the organization. Majumder clarified that while the investigation is ongoing, no evidence of political affiliation has been discovered thus far.
During the briefing, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam also provided insights regarding foreign election observers, stating that approximately 400 international observers are expected to monitor the upcoming polls. Additionally, about 120 foreign journalists are anticipated to cover the election, ensuring comprehensive international media presence.
