Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) has initiated the process of notifying political parties that failed to secure registration.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 121 political parties did not meet the registration requirements due to their inability to fulfill the terms and conditions outlined by the commission, as well as a lack of sufficient information. Letters bearing the signature of EC Deputy Secretary Mahbub Alam Shah have been dispatched to 62 political parties today, with the remaining 59 parties expected to receive similar notifications within the next week.

The EC revealed that 143 political parties initially applied for registration, but many did so without providing the necessary documents. Subsequently, 84 parties complied by submitting the required paperwork as directed by the commission. Based on these submissions, the Commission granted preliminary approval to 22 parties, including the newly established National Citizen Party (NCP).

The final decision on the registration status of these political parties will be made following a field investigation into the information they have submitted to the commission.
