Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) is set to engage in a dialogue with 81 domestic election observer organizations on November 25, as part of its preparations for the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections. The discussions are planned to be held in two separate sessions at the conference room of Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the first session will commence at 10:30 am with the participation of 40 organizations. The second session will follow at 2 pm, involving the remaining 41 organizations. Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin will oversee the dialogue, with EC Assistant Director (Communication) Md Arshadul Haque confirming the details.
Other election commissioners and senior officials from the EC Secretariat are also expected to attend the dialogue. This initiative follows a series of dialogues conducted earlier in the month, where the EC engaged with at least 47 registered political parties on November 13, 16, 17, and 19.
The commission has been actively engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders, including media personalities, election experts, women leaders, academicians, and civil society representatives. The feedback and proposals received from these discussions have played a crucial role in shaping the final election code of conduct.
The EC believes that these comprehensive dialogues with political parties and other stakeholders will enhance the credibility and participation levels of the forthcoming national parliamentary elections.
