EC Officials Enhance Communication Skills for Upcoming Elections

Dhaka: Officials of the Election Commission (EC) have received training today to enhance their communication skills for effectively engaging with the media ahead of the 13th parliamentary election. The training program aimed to ensure transparency, accountability, and the strengthening of democratic values within the election process.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, experts from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) served as resource persons for the training. The program was organized with the support of the United Nations (UN) in Bangladesh. The day-long event, titled 'Media in Election: Effective Communication with Journalists and Media Engagement for Transparency, Trust, and Democracy,' took place at the Election Training Institute (ETI) in Agargaon.

Md Ruhul Amin Mallik, Director (PR) of the EC Secretariat, highlighted the importance of this capacity-building initiative for the trainers of the Bangladesh Election Commission. Participants received training on effective media communication, crisis information management, and strategies to enhance transparency and public confidence in the electoral process.

In addition to the United Nations, support for the program came from Japan, the United Kingdom, international development agencies, Australia, Norway, and Sweden. EC officials indicated that this initiative marks a significant step toward establishing a participatory, transparent, and credible election management system.
