Kuala lumpur: The Election Commission (EC) has announced the commencement of voter registration and National Identity Card (NID) issuance for Bangladeshi expatriates residing in Malaysia. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure the participation of overseas citizens in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Elections.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the inaugural program for this process in Malaysia is set to occur by Wednesday, September 17, as confirmed by EC officials. The initiative will be formally launched by Election Commissioner Md Anwarul Islam Sarkar, who arrived in Malaysia on Saturday for this purpose.
Election Commissioner Anwarul’s Private Secretary, Mohammad Kamruzzaman, assured BSS that the programme would proceed as planned within the specified timeframe. This move is expected to facilitate greater involvement of the Bangladeshi diaspora in the electoral process, granting them the right to vote and enhancing their ability to contribute to the democratic process.
