Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) has instructed district election officers to prepare and submit a detailed list of polling centers equipped with CCTV cameras ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections. This directive is part of a broader initiative to ensure a transparent and fair electoral process.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the urgent notice was signed by the commission’s Senior Assistant Secretary, Md. Nasir Uddin Chowdhury. It highlights the need for comprehensive information on educational institutions serving as polling centers, specifically those lacking boundary walls or having windows and doors in poor condition. The EC has requested that these details, along with any minor repair requirements, be submitted by November 12 to the election support-1 wing via the concerned Regional Election Officers, in both hard and soft copy formats as per the prescribed form.

The notice further explained that the list of polling centers was finalized in a meeting held on October 20. It emphasized that information regarding infrastructural issues at these centers should be provided according to the established timeline. Additionally, the EC issued a separate directive for a detailed list of polling centers where CCTV cameras are already installed, urging for the fastest possible submission of this list.

The EC underscored the importance of using CCTV cameras during the voting process to ensure transparency and prevent any irregularities. This measure is part of the commission’s commitment to conducting the upcoming national election in a manner that is free, fair, and transparent.
