EC Approves 60 Appeals in National Election Nomination Disputes

Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) approved 60 additional appeals concerning the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers for the upcoming 13th National Election. This decision came on the sixth day of appeal hearings, highlighting the ongoing scrutiny of the nomination process.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the EC also rejected 29 appeals, with 10 remaining pending. The appeals addressed the returning officers’ decisions regarding the nomination papers, ensuring a thorough review process. A total of 104 applications underwent hearings today, and the commission dismissed five appeals against the acceptance of nomination papers.



The appeal hearings commenced at 10:00 am at the Basement-2 auditorium of Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon, the capital. Proceedings paused for a one-hour break at noon and continued until 5:00 pm. The full commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin, managed the hearings, maintaining a comprehensive evaluation throughout the day.
