Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) has taken a significant step in preparation for the upcoming 13th parliamentary election by appointing a revising authority to handle petitions concerning claims, objections, and corrections in the draft voter list.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a notification was issued today, signed by Md Rafiqul Islam, the deputy secretary of the EC Secretariat. The notification outlines the designation of officers appointed as revising authorities across 64 districts and cantonment areas, specifying their jurisdictions for addressing corrections. This move follows the provisions of Section 3 (h) of the Voter List Act, 2009, aiming to resolve claims and objections submitted through the prescribed forms based on the information gathered during the voter list update process.

The EC plans to publish the final voter list on November 18, 2025. Individuals seeking to include eligible names, delete ineligible ones, transfer voter registration, or correct errors in the draft voter list have until November 16 to apply to the revising authority.

As per the latest data, Bangladesh's total number of voters stands at 12,63,07,504, comprising 64,100,455 male voters, 6,22,05,819 female voters, and 1,230 third gender (Hijra) voters.
