Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon on Wednesday expressed anticipation for a positive outcome regarding Bangladesh-India relations. Minister Swapon discussed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi's recent meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the High Commissioner met with Prime Minister Modi after conducting significant meetings with Bangladeshi leadership, including Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. During a conversation with reporters, Swapon highlighted the High Commissioner's optimism, quoting him as saying, "There are no issues between the two countries that cannot be resolved."
Trivedi's discussions in New Delhi focused on strengthening the relationship between India and Bangladesh in a constructive manner, emphasizing a people-centric approach. The High Commissioner is expected to return to Dhaka on Friday, as reported by a diplomatic source to UNB.
During a regular briefing in New Delhi, Randhir Jaiswal, Spokesperson at the Ministry of External Affairs, mentioned invitations extended to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for a visit to India and for the BRICS summit. Updates on these invitations are awaited.
The High Commissioner's visit to New Delhi followed consultations in Dhaka, including meetings with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, and Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, where discussions revolved around mutual interests and strengthening bilateral ties with a focus on people-centric cooperation.
