Accra:According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Steven Collet, Vice Minister for International Cooperation of the Netherlands, emphasized the global significance of the July Museum during his visit to the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum. He described the museum as "the most impressive" he had ever seen, underscoring its importance not just for Bangladesh but for people worldwide.
During his visit, Collet reviewed documents from Ganabhaban detailing the events of the July Mass Uprising. He noted that these documents serve as crucial evidence of the killings from that period. Collet also examined records and exhibits documenting the events from 2009 to 2024, including video footage of the violence during the uprising under Sheikh Hasina's government, which left him speechless.
Sabrina Afroz Sabonti, sister of martyr Mahamudur Rahman Saikat, shared her brother's story with Collet, highlighting his ultimate sacrifice during the uprising.
Collet commended the people of Bangladesh for establishing the museum, stating it tells a story that should never be forgotten. He remarked that the museum serves as a reminder of the responsibility to shape the future with dignity and respect for human rights.
