Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chwodhury today announced that this year's Durga Puja will be celebrated in a more festive and peaceful manner compared to previous years. After visiting the Ramna Kali Mandir in the capital, he assured the public that the festivities would proceed without disruption.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Home Adviser commended the Ramna Kali Mandir organizing committee for their meticulous preparations. He addressed concerns about potential threats, confidently stating that there is no risk of attacks during the celebrations. To ensure safety, puja mandaps across the country will be under 24-hour surveillance, with Ansar, police, and other law enforcement agencies on duty.
Highlighting the increased government support, Jahangir noted that the allocation for Durga Puja has risen to Tk 5 crore this year, up from Tk 4 crore last year. He pointed out that during the 15 years of the Awami League regime, the government had previously allocated only Tk 2 crore for the celebrations.
The Home Adviser also mentioned the rise in the number of Durga Puja mandaps nationwide and urged the public to disregard any misleading information about the celebrations. An app has been developed to provide real-time updates on the celebrations and to facilitate prompt responses to any issues.
Ramna Kali Mandir Committee President Arpana Roy expressed gratitude to the Home Adviser for implementing comprehensive security measures to ensure peaceful celebrations at the temple.
