Dhaka: Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and Bangladesh Global Health and Research Institute (BGHRI) are jointly launching first aid training for Dhaka University (DU) students. DUCSU General Secretary (GS) SM Farhad made this announcement at a press conference in front of the DUCSU building this afternoon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the First Aid Boot camp training program will include Basic Life Support (BLS), first aid for choking, fainting, fracture, burn, food poisoning, snake bite, self-hygiene, female self-hygiene, first aid for eye injuries, and first aid for dengue prevention.

DUCSU GS SM Farhad highlighted that students at the primary education level in developed countries receive academic first aid training, a facility that has been lacking in Bangladesh. To address this gap, DUCSU has initiated a program to train students in first aid and emergency situation handling.

“We are taking several major steps to improve the Dhaka University Medical Centre. Our main goal is to modernize the medical centre,” Farhad stated.

DUCSU Health and Environment Secretary MM Al Minhaj mentioned that initially, some students will be selected for this training in each hall during the registration process. The training sessions will be organized at Salimullah Muslim Hall and Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall on October 25. Minhaj emphasized the importance of students receiving immediate medical care before hospital treatment in any emergency.
