Dhaka: The Sada Dal, BNP-backed teachers' panel of Dhaka University, expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Professor Emeritus of the English Department, Syed Manzoorul Islam. In a condolence message, Sada Dal Convener Prof. Morshed Hasan Khan, along with Joint Conveners Professor Dr. Abdus Salam and Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Sarkar, expressed their shock.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam was a distinguished academic, essayist, researcher, and eminent Rabindra scholar. He authored and edited over a hundred books and was recognized as a progressive intellectual who inspired many through his thoughts and actions in the pursuit of social progress.
The statement from Sada Dal conveyed their profound grief at his passing and paid their respects to his extraordinary life and contributions. They expressed their wishes for Almighty Allah to grant him Jannah and eternal peace. Prof. Manzoorul Islam passed away this afternoon while undergoing treatment at a city hospital at the age of 74.
