Dhaka: A meeting of Dhaka University’s Central Coordination Committee on the technical inspection, evaluation, and monitoring of residential halls and buildings following the recent earthquake was held today at the Vice-Chancellor’s meeting room. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan attended the meeting as the chief guest, and the session was presided over by committee President and university Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was attended by several key university officials, including Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, Provost of Salimullah Muslim Hall Professor Dr. Abdullah-Al Mamun, and Provost of Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall Professor Dr. Md. Faruk Shah. Members of the sub-committee responsible for the technical inspection of halls and buildings were also present. Additionally, BUET Civil Engineering Professors Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed, Dr. Rakib Ahsan, and Dr. Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed, along with Professor Dr. Nazrul Islam, DUCSU Executive Member Sarvamitra Chakma, the Acting Registrar, and engineers from the university’s Engineering Department, participated in the session.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the technical inspection and evaluation work across the residential halls. It was reported that the BUET expert sub-committee has already completed the inspection and assessment process. The technical evaluation report will be made available soon, with detailed documents to be kept at the Engineering Department and the respective halls.
