Dhaka: The Dhaka University (DU) authority has raised objections over the misrepresentation of Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan's remarks about the forthcoming DUCSU election by certain media outlets, calling it misleading and confusing for the public. A press release issued by DU's public relations office communicated this protest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the release clarified that the Vice-Chancellor's statement had been misrepresented, following reports in the media suggesting that he had threatened to resign if obstacles impeded the DUCSU elections. The Vice-Chancellor's comments came during a media interaction after a discussion at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) auditorium, commemorating DU Black Day.
Professor Khan emphasized that organizing the DUCSU election is a challenging yet nationally significant task that necessitates collective efforts. He stated, "This process will continue as long as all stakeholders cooperate. If cooperation is withdrawn, I will clearly inform everyone where the obstacles lie." However, some media outlets misquoted this statement as a threat to resign, which the DU authority refutes.
In his address, Professor Khan reassured that the DU administration would provide maximum support to the Election Commission and would keep the media regularly updated on the election proceedings.
