Dhaka: The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has instructed all secondary and higher education institutions across the country to display an anti-drug documentary and theme song as part of a nationwide awareness campaign. This initiative is aimed at combating drug abuse among students and raising awareness about its detrimental effects.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the directive was issued following the seventh meeting of the advisory committee on law and order under the Ministry of Education. A letter signed by Kazi M Abu Quaiyum, Director of DSHE's Monitoring and Evaluation Wing, confirmed the initiative, underscoring the government's commitment to addressing drug-related issues through education.
The campaign, which is spearheaded by the Department of Narcotics Control, seeks to strengthen social resistance against drug abuse. Educational institutions at both district and upazila levels are required to showcase the documentary and theme song, thereby integrating this awareness effort into the educational framework.
Heads of institutions have been asked to submit confirmation and related information through a Google form by July 23. The letter includes a link and QR code to the form: https://forms.gl/WkrL2CFc7RCSJugZ6. This requirement ensures that institutions comply with the directive and participate actively in the campaign.
Regional directors have been requested to circulate the directive to all principals and heads of secondary schools and colleges, highlighting its urgency and importance. This step signifies the nationwide scope of the initiative and the collective responsibility of educational leaders in its implementation.
